Summary: what do Instagram ads cost in the Netherlands in 2026?
Instagram ads have no fixed price. You set your own budget and Meta decides in an auction what a click or impression costs. Dutch agencies quote €0.10 to €2.00 per click and €1.25 to €16 per 1,000 impressions. To learn well, Meta needs about 50 results a week; at €5.89 per enquiry that is roughly €1,280 of ad budget a month. Agency management usually costs €200 to €1,500 a month. At Game-changers a social media advertising partnership starts from €500 a month excluding VAT, with no set-up fee.
→ Ad budget
You decide. Agencies advise €300 to €1,000 a month to start.
→ Cost per click
€0.10 to €2.00 per click, according to Dutch agencies (2026). Searchlab quotes an average of €0.70.
→ 1,000 impressions
€1.25 to €16. Searchlab quotes an average of €8.50.
→ Cost per enquiry
€5.89 and €8.70 for two Game-changers clients. Searchlab quotes €2 to €18 per action.
→ Agency management
€200 to €1,500 a month, on top of your ad budget.
Instagram is big enough to advertise on: in one year it grew from 8.2 to 8.9 million Dutch users, up 8% (Newcom, Dutch National Social Media Survey 2026, via Frankwatching). Below you can read where each figure comes from, how much budget you really need and why your ads matter more than your bid.
What do you pay for with Instagram ads?
With Instagram ads you pay for three things: the ad budget to Meta, the management and the ads themselves. Instagram and Facebook share Meta's ad system, so you advertise through Meta Ads Manager.
→ 1. Ad budget, to Meta
This money goes straight to Meta. You choose a daily or lifetime budget. ROXTAR advises from €500 a month and ideally about €1,000, Brainpink €300 to €500 a month per campaign for testing.
→ 2. Management, to the agency or freelancer
Strategy, audiences, setting up campaigns and adjusting them every week. Searchlab quotes €200 to €500 a month, Marketing Divisie €400 to €1,500 and The Success Agency €500 to €1,500 a month. According to The Success Agency, large agencies charge €1,000 to €5,000.
→ 3. Ads and content
Photos, videos, Reels and copy. Some agencies charge for this separately, others include it in management. Ask about it, because without new ads your costs go up (see the chapter on creatives).
→ VAT and extra fees
A Dutch business buys ads from Meta Platforms Ireland and gets an invoice without VAT; you account for VAT yourself in your return (Meta, taxes on ads). Since 2026 Meta charges extra location fees of 2 to 5% in six countries, such as France, Spain and the United Kingdom. The Netherlands is not on that list (Meta, location fees, checked 8 November 2026).

What does a click or 1,000 impressions cost on Instagram?
According to Dutch agencies a click on Instagram costs €0.10 to €2.00, and 1,000 impressions €1.25 to €16. There is no fixed price: Meta runs an auction for every impression. The winner is not the highest bid, but the ad with the best mix of bid, the chance someone responds and ad quality (Meta, about the ad auction).
→ Campaign objective
A reach campaign is cheap per impression. A campaign for enquiries or sales costs more per click, but brings in customers.
→ Placement and format
Reels and Stories are usually cheaper than feed ads, and automatic placements cheaper than manual ones (Searchlab, March 2026).
→ Industry
Searchlab quotes €0.40 per click for food and hospitality and €1.40 for legal. The more expensive your service, the more advertisers will pay for a click.
→ Season
Around Black Friday and Cyber Monday more advertisers bid and prices rise (One Media).

Our research: what Dutch agencies say about Instagram ad costs
For this article Game-changers read the top Google results for "instagram adverteren kosten" (Instagram advertising costs) on 8 November 2026. That term is searched 150 to 260 times a month in the Netherlands, and "adverteren op instagram" (advertising on Instagram) 700 to 1,600 times (DataForSEO, Ahrefs and Semrush, November 2026). This is what the agencies quote:
→ The most expensive click is twenty times the cheapest
Quoted click prices run from €0.10 to €2.00. An average says little about your own campaign.
→ Few pages link to a source
Most pages quote figures without showing where they come from. Zoomin does link, but to foreign figures. Blauwe Monsters and Dashed use exactly the same numbers.
→ Starting budget: €300 to €1,000 a month
Advice on a starting budget differs by more than a factor of three. Meta itself gives a rule you can check: see the next chapter.
→ Location fees: check which countries
One Dutch blog says you pay 3% extra in the Netherlands since July 2026. The Netherlands is not on Meta's own list. Always check the source.
“A cost per click tells you little until you know what a customer costs you. So work back from your cost per enquiry and give Meta enough budget to learn. At €10 a day you only reach 50 results a week if a result costs less than €1.40. After that, your ads make the difference, not your bid.”

How much budget do you need at minimum?
You need enough budget for about 50 results a week. That is how long an ad set stays in the learning phase: Meta learns who responds to your ad and only exits that phase "after about 50 results in the week after the ad set's last significant edit" (Meta, about the learning phase). A result is what you measure, such as an enquiry or a purchase.
→ Rule of thumb
Budget per week = 50 × your cost per result. Per month, count 4.33 weeks.
→ Worked example
An enquiry costs €5.89, as at CrossFit Amsterdam. Then you need €294.50 a week, about €1,280 a month. At €8.70 per enquiry, as at Fysio aan Huis, that is about €1,880 a month.
→ Meta's own minimum
If you set a cost per result goal, Meta recommends a daily budget of at least 5 times that goal (Meta, about minimum budgets). With a goal of €6.50 per enquiry that is €32.50 a day, about €990 a month.
→ Less budget?
Choose a result that happens more often, such as clicks to your site or product page views. Or combine ad sets so the budget is not spread too thin.

What does €1,000 a month buy? With Searchlab's averages you buy about 117,600 impressions (€8.50 per 1,000), 1,430 clicks (€0.70 per click) or 154 enquiries (€6.50 per action). These are three different campaign objectives: you choose one per campaign.

Creatives drive your costs: how we test ads
Your ads themselves, the creatives, largely decide what a customer costs you. Ad quality counts in the auction. And when your audience keeps seeing the same ad, you get creative fatigue: less engagement and a higher cost per result, Meta writes. Ads that look too much alike are also treated by Meta as one ad (Meta, Demystifying Creative Diversification). That is why we test with a fixed system, not with one-off ads.
→ 1. Angles
First we decide why someone would buy. For example recognising a problem, curiosity, proof from other customers, authority or desire. Each angle speaks to a different type of customer.
→ 2. Hooks
For each angle we make several openings: the first seconds or first line that decide whether someone keeps scrolling.
→ 3. Formats
We make every combination as a Reel, Story, carousel, static image or UGC video, built for the placement where it has to perform.
→ 4. Offer
We also test what you offer: a trial class, a free analysis, a discount or a guide.
→ 5. Measure, stop and scale
We steer on cost per enquiry or sale, not on likes. What works gets more budget, what does not is stopped. The insights go into the next round.
To test enough variations, we create content with smart AI workflows directed by experienced creatives. That way we deliver dozens of variations per sprint, in days rather than weeks, and at lower cost than a traditional production. Our Brainbank keeps track of which hooks, ads and customer insights work, so every round gets smarter. Read how we do it on our AI Content Creation page. Creative testing is a fixed part of our approach to social media advertising.

Lower cost per enquiry through better tracking
Meta learns from the enquiries and purchases it can see. If your tracking misses part of them because of ad blockers, cookie banners or privacy settings, Meta looks for the wrong people and you pay more per customer.
→ Conversions API
Your website or CRM sends enquiries and purchases straight to Meta, next to the pixel in the browser. According to Meta this helps lower the cost per result (Meta, about the Conversions API).
→ Server-side tracking
Conversions go through your own server, so fewer get lost.
→ Customer feedback loop
Closed deals from your CRM go back to Meta, so Meta optimises for customers instead of form fills.

How to compare two quotes for Instagram ads
Ask every agency or freelancer these questions before you sign.
→ Is the ad budget separate from management?
You want to pay the budget to Meta yourself, on your own account.
→ Who makes the ads, and how many new ones a month?
Without new ads your costs rise through creative fatigue.
→ How do they test?
Ask about angles, hooks and how winners are chosen.
→ Do they measure what an enquiry or sale costs?
Without good tracking nobody steers on results, only on clicks and likes.
→ Is there a set-up fee?
It differs per agency.
→ Who does the work?
A senior specialist or a junior account manager?
